Hello!

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t enjoy creating art or making things with my hands. Many a childhood summer was spent in Cairo with family wandering the alleyways of Khan el Khalili pouring over all the sparkly handcrafted goods which led to a very early fascination with jewelry. By five, I started making bracelets like the ones Wonder Woman wore, out of cardboard tubes and tin foil in order to ward off evildoers in the neighborhood. And by high school I had advanced to using beads, wire and string for friendship bracelets and earrings. Creativity was always second nature to me.

The “Artist” title became official in college when (after previously being undecided) I came home proclaiming my official status as a Bachelor of Fine Arts/Graphic Design major. But my love of metal as an art form came about more serendipitously during my sophomore year when I was closed out of every elective I wanted. All that remained was “Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design 101.” I was intrigued, and since I liked jewelry, I registered. It wasn’t long before I discovered how much I loved the feeling of moving a rigid material like metal into beautiful limitless forms. The power you feel from simply holding these age-old tools—not to mention a large flaming torch—is like none other. The process was oddly therapeutic and stress relieving as well, so when I began my career as an Art Director, I continued to hone my smithing skills, using metal as my creative outlet from my hectic Advertising job.

Fast forward 25 years. I‘ve since left the corporate world, started a family and (little did I realize) those early childhood skills of shaping tin foil, cardboard, beads and string had laid the foundation of what would ultimately become a fantastic second act in life, Morrison Mae Studio. And the rest as they say, is history.

Every piece of jewelry I sell has been handcrafted meticulously by my hands from beginning to end, using time honored metalsmithing techniques and the highest quality materials. Each piece is intended to be loved for many years and cherished in the way that only a handmade object can.
