In much of the Arab world the Nazar, known more commonly as the Evil Eye, is an occular-shaped amulet believed to protect the wearer against the ill effects of the evil eye transmitted through a malicious glare, one usually inspired by envy. The word nazar is derived from Arabic, meaning sight, surveillance or attention. The Nazar charm reflects the evil intent back to the onlooker—thereby protecting the wearer. The traditional blue color is symbolic of good karma, positive energies, protection and ultimate truth. It is hoped that through its display it will provide luck and good fortune to the wearer. This amulet is a modern interpretation of the traditional Nazar using the combined power of an amulet with metaphysical power of a gemstone.
Gemstone is set in serrated edge fine silver bezel on a sterling silver disk, surrounded with a silver border to create a shadow box interior—highlighting the circular shape and hung from a satellite cable chain. See below for available stones and their individual meanings.
